Day 1: BANGALORE TO CHIKMAGALORE

Arrive in Bangalore and transfer to Chikmagalore.

Day 2: CHIKMAGALORE

The area around Chikmagalur where coffee estates are located is excellent for bird watching. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded in this region. Ride to the nearby forest area and coffee estates to observe birds.

Day 3: CHIKMAGALUR TO COORG

Drive to Coorg via Belur and past Halibedu temples of Hassan. Coorg is rich in natural resources which include lumber and spices.

Day 4: COORG

Coorg is a delightful haven for bird watchers. After an early breakfast, drive around Coorg to discover birds. Then drive to Dubare to spot more birds like peacocks, partridges, kingfishers, woodpeckers etc.

Day 5: COORG TO WAYANAD

Drive to Wayanad. Quite a large area of Wayanad is covered by dense forest and it is home to several endangered species.

Day 6: WAYANAD

Driving to Kuruva Island, Edakkal cave, Phookot and Tirunelli to observe birds of Wayanad.

Day 7: WAYANAD TO THATTAKKAD

Drive to Thattakkad and stay at the spectacular eco-lodge on the tranquil banks of the River Periyar. The Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary has a rich and varied birdlife.

Day 8: THATTAKKAD

Head to Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary, which is one of the richest bird habitats in India. The trip through this sanctuary would certainly be a bonanza for any birder, with over 270 species including Mottled Wood Owl, Spot-bellied Eagle Owl, Malayan Night Heron, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Rusty-tailed Flycatcher, Grey-headed Bulbul and the Nilgiri Wood Pigeon.

Day 9: THATTAKKAD TO KUMARAKOM

Drive to Kumarakom, which is undoubtedly the most invigorating, fascinating paradise in Kerala. Kumarakom is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a noted bird sanctuary where many species of migratory birds visit.

Day 10: KUMARAKOM TO ALLEPPEY

After the bird walk in the morning, you will head to Alleppey, the land of Backwaters. Enjoy your leisurely motor cruise and evening walk to observe the birds of backwaters.

After an early morning birding tour, you will head to Cochin. There, you will explore the land marks of Fort Kochi like St. Francis church, Dutch palace and Jewish synagogue.
